Day 13 Tuesday 2.4.2013

6 squares dark choc
2 slices buttered toast
Corned beef hash, 2 slices Angel Cake
4 chocolate biscuits

After an orgy of "band-dodging" chocolate over Easter, things began to settle back down again today. Not only has the milk chocolate run out, but my mind is beginning to recover from an upseting experience the previous week, allowing clearer focus.

After dark choc as usual first thing, and 2 slices toast mid-morning, the tummy scale stayed obstinately at 6-7 right through to the early afternoon. A craving for chocolate biscuits hit me around the later afternoon, which emerged again in the later evening. On both occasions the tummy scale itself was at 5, so this was bending one of the Golden Rules - only eating when the tummy scale hits 4.

We shall be discovering the impact of this unsettled week at the Wednesday Weigh-In!

Let's talk about poo
On this regime, one of two things are required to "get things moving" - either sheer quantity or enough fibre. Baked beans I've found are excellent for this, but toast, even wholemeal toast, isn't on its own.

There were an unusal two toilet visits today - the morning one was a fine reasonable-size log. The evening visit was another matter - basically a batch of hard brown stones that required "assistance".

When you are not eating more than you need, the digestive system goes into max efficiency, and every last drop of nutrition - and water - is extracted. Fibre soaks up and retains more water, effectively bulking up and lubricating your logs.

That said, I'm still happy to let my intuition decide what it wants. The whole point of the experiment is not to be on a diet but to eat in a different way - not "what" but "how" - and to see if that works.
